Experience
-
Mai-Chi completed her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) and has been working as a bilingual (French-English) Speech-Language Pathologist. Since 2021, she has been working both in schools and private practice. Before pursuing her studies in Speech-Language pathology, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Language Sciences (Linguistics and Psychology) from Université Laval (UL), as well as a Bachelor's degree in Teaching for Special Education and Social Adaptation from Université du Québec à Montreal (UQAM).
-
Her studies in linguistics provide Mai-Chi with an in-depth understanding of various aspects of the French language, as well as other languages, enabling her to better assess and intervene with clients from monolingual or multilingual backgrounds.
.
-
Mai-Chi has previous work experience in the field of teaching for special education and social adaptation, working as a substitute teacher, educational therapist, and tutor. She had the opportunity to work with disabled and/or learning-challenged youth - including Autistic, Deaf, and Visually Impaired students. She continues to work in the public school system, both at the elementary and high school levels, as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). Mai-Chi understands the education system, its expectations, and realities. She also understands the importance of collaborating with various school team members to ensure the implementation of goals and strategies for the overall academic success of her clients.
Approach
-
In her practice, the Vietnamese SLP is dynamic, curious, creative, and dedicated. She closely collaborates with her clients, their families, and other professionals to provide personalized support that respects their needs and interests. This approach aims to highlight individual strengths and promote successes, both academically and socially. She seeks to offer stimulating experience for her clients by incorporating playful and functional activities in her therapies.
